Uncle Joe, you spend two days at Pinehurst and you didn't play a round; or did you just not mention it?

Well Joe I can't say that I've ever gone spinning the way you did. I'd much rather get out onto the open road for a few hours, however in the off-season (due to the weather) I am forced to clamp my bike into a resistive trainer while watching Tour de France tapes. There's nothing quite like peddaling your ass off for 60+ minutes and not getting anywhere.:-)

Sorry to put you through the torture of a spinning class but it only came after you bragged about your level of fitness (and, yes, you do look great!) and told me that you thought spinning might be too easy. Ha! Guess not... and sorry to hear that you will not be joining the cult. It was great to see you, hear your stories, and witness the affects of two of your hangovers. Geez, you better get that tolerance up and keep a bottle of advil handy for BEFORE you hit the sack. (this advice comes from a fine-tuned college partier, folks.) Hope the rest of your journey brings you more great food, great company, and makes many more memories. Three more turns on your bike and we're climbing that mountain...

Joe, it was wonderful having you at our home for a couple of days. I was impressed that you made it to Merissa's early morning lacrosse game after a night of partying with the family. Thanks for the NY shirts and baseball caps (and the Heinekens that were left in the fridge). We look forward to reading your future entries on this site.

Ya Joe. What gives? If you're in Syracuse, you should have plenty of time to be on the computer. The latest doppler image I saw indicated typical Syracuse weather. Oh ya, by the way, can you Fedex me some bread from Columbus Bakery and some homemade sweet sausage and a few Italian Pastries from one of those places on the Nort side? Oh baby, it's been awhile.:-)

AMATO ! You have got be more diligent with your web site. No updates since September 15th does not reflect good web content managment. You may end up relinquishing your number 7 position on the "Top 10 Most Popular Web Sites Chart" to somebody like Britney Spears or Pamale Lee Anderson. Don't forget to look up your "Pal-Joey" when you get to NYC. Ciao, Paolo

A bomb with a six day explosion... fallout arriving only after a mushroom cloud covers the stock market's opening. The evil, the brilliance, the show, the horror, the religions, the politics, the rhetoric, the posturing, ...and the lack of an enemy. I sure hope our patience is strong. I sure hope this crime scene is handled with care. 15 pictures scanned, 7 pages created and updated, 5 years of college, 15 years in the business .....brings me to 4 hours of secretarial work. Your web site is now up to date. Drive safe and remember: For every 100 shares sold, PLEASE find 100 to buy.

You actually drove right through Minnesota without a mention of either WWF or big man Jesse.....thought for sure he would have been on your agenda!! Are midwesterns really different from East or West Coast people?? Glad to see you're on the ground instead of the air....Bobbi

A beautiful, sunny Fall day. A challenging 18 holes of golf to enjoy. The companionship of a long-time friend. Then the surrealism, shock and horror of this Day of Infamy, version 2001. Travel on Joe, we hope to see you again on a happier day. Ciao, Paul & Mia

Hope your travels yesterday were safe and that you were able to take a moment to reflect upon the events of the day. I look forward to reading your accounts of the events and how they were received in Chicago (?). You may want to give up looking for Chandra and concentrate your search efforts on Bin Loden. Thoughts and prayers go out to all.

Hey, Joe. Experiences to recall when you are "old and gray". I especially appreciated your chance meeting with a herd of buffalo. Just think what those herds were like thundering over the plains before they were decimated for their skins. I have been to SunValley (2x) and to Jackson Hole for skiing, but would love to see it in the summer. Heard that you would be missing Italian days, but that Bobbi will be there. I am at Annette's for my 6 month checkup tomorrow at the Joint Center. Am feeling great and am 18 lbs. lighter than I was after my surgery. I will be going back to Syracuse tomorrow. Expect to see you soon and will continue to track your adventures on the web. P.S. When I was accessing your site, I inadverently types .com instead of .org. Up came another Amato web site. I could not figure out why I did not know the people in the photo album.Another family entirely. You might want to check it out. They are looking for other Amatos. Til later, maz

Hey Joe, with such forgettable places as Cody and LaCrosse listed on your travel map, why the lack of respect for Grants Pass and Bend, OR? The map makes it look like you went directly from Mt. Shasta to Idaho. Talk about being left out in the cold...man o man!:-)

Having been recently exposed to Joe's web site, I decided to do some investigative journalism and seek out the real truth behind this man and his odyssey. It didn't take long to ferret out the actual story behind Mr. Joe Amato and his supposed "odyssey". The true essence of this man can be found on his official, commercial web-site at "www.pal-joey.com". Once you visit this site, the true identity and vocation of Mr. Joe Amato is revealed. Thus, this romantic trip through the heartland of America turns out to be just a front for its true purpose - an extended "gig" from one shady road-house joint to another.. I understand he will be performing soon at Casa Figaro in beautiful, downtown Columbus.

It's true ! Hell has frozen over, the Red Sox win the Series and Joe has resigned his commission as Chairman Emeritus of the Luddite Society and embraced technology - a WEB SITE! The perfect match - technology that can capture Joe's verbosity and make it available to the world - in real time! Mia and I are looking forward to seeing our happy wanderer at our humble abode here in "Buckeyeland". But I don't accept the "Steinbeck/Travels With Charley" analogy - more likely "Kerouac/On The Road".

I think Oprah still has a place in Jackson Hole....If you don't have reservations confirmed there, let me know and I'll send you her phone number! I think they also have a bridge for sale somewhere around there!!! Glad to hear you've been having good golfing weather - keeps the spirits focused!! Love, Bobbi

Better yet... Follow the yellow brick road! We're looking forward to your arrival on the east coast. You can stop by the nation's capitol---where everyone is looking for brains, hearts, courage (and, of course, Chandra). Drive carefully and stay away from the poppies!

Hello, cousin Joseph...it's Philip. This is a great idea! I'll be checking in to note your progress. Are you headed anywhere in particular? Any lifetime must-sees? I visited Dallas on the 3oth anniversary of the asassination. It looked just like the movie hahaha! Something I had always wanted to do. Take care and drive safe(ly). Remember..."Every step you take we'll be watching you!" (Hello to everyone else out there. Will there ever be a 'cousins' reunion?) PAZ

Well, Uncle Joe, you certainly are an eloquent writer! It seems like you are living the life... golfing and margaritas, is there a more perfect combination!?! Can't wait to read your updates... hopefully I can continue to decode your extensive vocabulary! Drive safely.

Joe, we had a great time Wednesday night. There's nothing like fajitas and margaritas with family you haven't seen in awhile. Also, sleeping-in until well after 9:00 AM is customary in these here parts when a person is on tour (plenty of fresh air and solitude to sleep by). You looked well-rested when you were heading out. :-)

Gee Joe, I'm impressed. First an e-mail account, and now your own web site. This from a man who's kept the legal pad business solvent over the years. Did you bring a digital camera and a laptop with you? Will you be on some kind of reality TV show? Sorry to hear that you can't make it to Colorado this time. BTW, if you're cutting through New Mexico on I-40 and don't take a 60 mile side trip to Santa Fe, Ansel will spin in is grave. He took a lot of pictures there. No burning bushes, however. Ciao
